38 Weeks!

I don't have much to report in this update, things are mostly the same. I'm still enjoying maternity leave very much, I've had a lot of extra time to spend with my sweetheart and I get to sleep in as much as I want! We had a checkup yesterday and the doc says that our girl is a "good size baby" and expects her to be between 7 and 8lbs when she arrives. I'm not feeling much different and my body isn't showing any signs of labor yet so I don't expect our special delivery until her due date.

But then again.....what do I know? ANY DAY NOW!!!!

4 Weeks to Go!

Only 4 weeks remaining until D-day! We have been quite busy this past month. Gabe and I completed our newborn care class, had our infant car seat installed by a professional (Thanks Cindy!) and finally got around to assembling a couple pieces of furniture (Thanks Lacie!).

I also was lucky enough to have 3 lovely baby showers! Thank you to Grandy Sue, Sylvia, Sharon and Kris for putting them together and all the wonderful women in my life (& Alex, John and Will) for coming and for all the great gifts! It means a lot to me to have all of your support, especially with my Florida family so far away.

The biggest news is that I am officially on maternity leave! I'm really hoping that the baby doesn't come early so I can enjoy every last day of not working before I become a full time mommy. It will be nice to have the extra time to start getting our home ready for the new arrival. We bought the baby detergent and now its time to start washing all those cute outfits she'll be wearing soon. I still cannot believe how quickly the time has past!

32 Weeks!

After four long weeks, it’s time for some baby news! Since she still has a lot of cooking to do, there isn’t much to report, but we’ve been busy getting ready for her arrival. This past Saturday, we toured the hospital’s labor and delivery floor. It looks like every other hospital I’ve ever seen, but they do have Tempur-Pedic beds. Sunday, we had a full day childbirth prep class complete with breathing and floor exercises. It takes some of the edge off my anxiety to know that we’re as prepared and we can be and that I have the best birthing partner any mom could ask for.

These days, it seems like our little girl is running out of room to kick and her movements are more like an attempt to find a comfortable position to sleep in. I can’t blame her though. If I could find a comfortable position to sleep in, I’d stay that way for a while too! We’ve graduated to bi-weekly baby doctor appointments and Dr. Dupont says that everything is still progressing normally. I never get tired of hearing her little heart beating, so for me, the more appointments the better. I still have four weeks left at work and if everything goes according to plan, my last day should be April 2nd, Good (Great) Friday. I can’t wait!

Happy Valentines Day!

Another month has passed since our last update and now we’re 29 weeks pregnant. The report from this week's OB appointment is that everything is going well and her little heartbeat is fast and strong. Our baby girl is getting bigger every day and I’m starting to believe that her movements are less like dancing and more like practice for her future soccer games.

I guess it's time for Gabe and I to do some serious baby shopping so our girl has somewhere to sleep when she arrives! It’s still very hard to believe that she’s going to be here soon.

Happy New Year!

A month has past since our last update and our little Acosta has been dancing up a storm. Her little pirouettes and somersaults have gotten so strong that we can feel them from the outside and watch my belly move to her rhythm. I'm still feeling good and I'm hoping that will continue as we enter the 3rd trimester.

There is no hiding my pregnant belly. It seems to be growing larger with every passing day and every day is a pleasant reminder that she'll be with us very soon.

It's Official!

I had my 20 Week ultrasound on Friday 12/11, and we're having a GIRL! All of her measurements came up normal and they confirmed her due date to be May 1st.

I've started to feel her dancing around in my belly and it's the most amazing thing I've ever known. I can't wait until those little jabs can be felt from the outside so I can share it with her Daddy.
